Are my E-mail/Network, Blackboard and Web Information passwords the same? No, your E-mail/Network, Blackboard and Web Information passwords are all different. If you wish you can change them to be the same on your own. However, your Blackboard & Web Information passwords never expire, so remember this when changing your e-mail/network password.
Can I keep my SVC E-Mail account after I graduate? All non-returning student accounts are disabled on or around August 1st of each year. A non-returning student is defined as one who has graduated and/or is not enrolled for the Fall term. Graduating students may request their account be extended through December 31st by submitting a request via e-mail to the Help Desk no later than May 15th. If you will be participating in a Teacher Certification program, it is highly recommended that you request your account be extended.

the system locks you out for security reasons. If you contact the Help
Desk during normal business hours we will
gladly unlock you. Otherwise, the system will unlock your account
within one hour.

Network access in my room has been blocked because I tried to download music, what do I do?
If you attempt to acquire music or videos through a Peer to Peer sharing program such as Ares, Limewire, Gnutella, etc. you are violating the policy on uploading or downloading of copyrighted material as stated in the Saint Vincent Good Netizen Rules and the network connection in your residence hall will be blocked. If you plug your computer into your roommate’s port or another friend's port, you risk having their access blocked as well.
First, you must disable or remove the Peer to Peer (aka P2P) program that is installed on your computer.
Second, you will need to visit the Help Desk to sign a waiver requesting your access be re-enabled. This waiver will include what audio or video files you were sharing, the program being used as well as the time of day you were caught sharing the files.
You will only be given one chance. If caught a second time, not only will your access be blocked, but you will be reported to the Office of Student Affairs where disciplinary measures will be taken, including the possibility of losing all network privileges.
Remember that many P2P programs launch automatically when you start your computer and therefore you may not realize the service is actually sharing files.
For more information please feel free to contact the Help Desk.

During certain times of the year you may be required to reserve the disk in advance. For more information contact the Help Desk.
Please note that the scanning and updating functionality of the current McAfee Corporate edition are not automatic and require configuring. Instructions for this can be found on our Documentation page.
I have a router that I would like to use in my room, can I just plug it into my port?
Attempting to connect a router without it being properly configured could result in the loss of network access for many users in your building. Therefore ALL routers, wireless or not, must be configured for use on the Saint Vincent Network by Network Services.
Please download the Wireless Registration Form, complete it, and bring it along with your router (and all software, documentation, etc.) to the Help Desk.
Network hubs and switches, without the built in ability to assign IP addresses can be used without registration. If you do not know what type of Access Point you have, it would be best to error on the side of caution and bring it to the Help Desk for configuration by the Network Services Team.

You can use any locally installed e-mail retrieval program that supports IMAP. Click here for Exchange 2007 instructions. My professor told me I needed to install the Analysis Tool Pak for PHStat & Excel. How do I do that?
For instructions on installing the Analysis Tool Pak on your computer, visit our Documentation page. What is the Barracuda SPAM Firewall and how do I use it?
The Barracuda SPAM Firewalls will filter all incoming email messages to students, faculty and administrative staff and identify messages that appear to be unsolicited. Users will receive a daily report and have an opportunity to review messages identified as SPAM. Users will also be able to adjust settings individually if they wish to define additional filtering for their account.
For instructions on how to configure Barracuda specifically for your mailbox click on the following link: Barracuda Spam Firewall.
Occasionally unsolicited messages will make it past the Barracuda Spam Firewall and into your mailbox. The Barracuda plug-in for Outlook allows a user to classify messages as spam or not-spam right from their desktop. This classification performs Bayesian learning and results in higher accuracy for the Barracuda Spam Firewall. Click here for information on downloading the Barracuda plug-in for Outlook. I have a Video Game System and would like to play games on-line. What do I need to do?
In order for your Xbox, Play Station or any other Game System to have network access, it must be manually registered through NetPass. Please visit the FORMS page to submit an on-line request to register your Video Game System.
