What is Exchange?

A Definition

  • Exchange is a collaboration suite. SVC's implementation of Exchange encompasses e-mail, cross-campus scheduling through electronic calendar functionality, contact/directory data, task management as well as a base for future collaboration and messaging functionality such as online chat, telephony integration, and more. Exchange provides access to messaging and calendaring features through desktop-based, web-based and mobile device-based computing platforms.

  • Exchange helps SVC faculty, staff and students collaborate more efficiently and effectively.

  • The Exchange architecture has been designed and constructed to accomplish three primary goals: performance, reliability and scalability. Clustered servers coupled with enterprise-class, storage technology provide the framework to accomplish those goals.
