David Wilmes, C’96, attends conference in Philadelphia

On Saturday Jan. 7, David Wilmes, C’96, Fellow of the Saint Vincent College Center for Northern Appalachian Studies, attended a conference at the Free Library of Philadelphia hosted by the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project. The conference honored Philadelphia area veterans and all the partners of Pennsylvania for the work they have accomplished preserving the stories of our nation’s military service men and women. Saint Vincent’s Center for Northern Appalachian Studies was singled out as one of the higher education institutions that has committed itself to, and excelled at, documenting the stories of our country’s veterans.

GIS/GPS internships offered to students

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is offering GIS/GPS internships for students. The SCA offers opportunities to gain skills in GIS mapping and GPS technology through hands-on internships that include working with local municipalities, working in Boston, living off the coast of California, and mapping the Washington State wilderness or recreational facilities of a national forest. Graduating seniors need to file applications with Registrar by Jan. 31

Any student anticipating a May 2006 graduation should have an application on file in the Registrar’s Office. Only those who have applied by Jan. 31 will be eligible for graduation. Seniors who already have an application on file should have received a memo from the Registrar regarding graduation requirements. If you did not receive this memo or are unsure whether you have filed a graduation application, please stop by the Registrar’s Office immediately. May 2006 graduation applicants taking courses at another college or university during the Spring 2006 semester must see the Registrar immediately. This meeting is very important since instructions on having grades documented prior to graduation will be explained. Your immediate attention to this matter is strongly suggested.
