Inter-Library Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a computerized system for borrowing materials not available at the Saint Vincent Library. This system makes use of the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) database that has holding records for over 30,000 libraries worldwide.

ILL is available to anyone in the Saint Vincent Community with a current, validated Saint Vincent ID.

Request forms for books and journal articles are available at the ILL Office or the Circulation Desk when the ILL Office is closed. ILL requests may also be made on-line by filing either a Request for an ILL Journal Articleor a Request for an ILL Book.

There is a basic ILL transaction fee of $1.50, but there may be additional phocopying charges. Every effort is made to obtain materials either at no charge or for the smallest charge possible. Faculty, administration and staff may charge any ILL costs to their department upon receipt of a properly authorized requisition. Students of Saint Vincent College and Seminary are responsible for any phocopying charges that may be incurred.

Loan periods are usually three weeks, and renewals are sometimes possible. The loan period, renewals and any restrictions on use (i.e., in-library use only) are determined by the lending library. All ILL materials should be returned promptly to the ILL Office or, if the Office is closed, to the Circulation Desk. Please note: ILL materials are not to be returned in the book drop!

The Interlibrary Loan Office in the Library is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
