Coach Andy Herr's Bearcat harriers finished a solid 5th among 40
teams competing in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III
Championships, held at Williams College in Massachusetts. Adam
Smith finished third overall in the field of 282 runners, crossing the
finish line in 26:24. Nate Sylvester was 19th in 27:04. Wayne Hooper
crossed the line in 27:20 (31st), followed by Thad Pajak (27:28, 37th),
Shane Simmons (27:53, 55th), Wade Schnorr (28:14, 77th) and Josh Meny
(28:23, 81st). Host Williams College finished first with 31
points, followed by the College of New Jersey (88), Amherst (126),
Oneonta (144) and SVC (145).

The Bearcat men took top honors in the Invitational portion of the
PAC Conference Meet, held at the Greene County Airport in Waynesburg,
PA. The men’s cross country team scored just 29
points. Grove City was second in the unofficial scoring with 47 points,
followed by Geneva (72), Waynesburg (111), Washington & Jefferson
(121), Westminster (167), and Thomas More (199). Adam
Smith and Nate Sylvester finished first and second overall in the meet,
and a total of seven Saint Vincent runners earned Coaches Awards by
placing in the top 14 of the meet. They were: Adam Smith, 1st overall with a time of 27:33 Nate Sylvester, 2nd overall (27:45) Wade Schnorr, 7th (28:31) Thad Pajak, 9th (28:43) Shane Simmons, 10th (28:48) Josh Meny, 13th (28:54) Wayne Hooper, 14th (29:02) Due
to its provisional status in the NCAA, Saint Vincent was not included
in the official PAC Championship scoring. In the official scoring,
which excluded Saint Vincent and Geneva runners, Grove City was first
with 19 points, followed by Waynesburg (58), W&J (69), Westminster

Coach Andy Herr's Bearcat harriers finished seventh among 19 teams at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. CMU won the event with a score of 43, followed by Mount Union (55), CMU's alumni (124), George Washington (138), Ohio Wesleyan (154), the Pharaoh Hounds (165) and SVC (177). Adam Smith was the top Bearcat runner, finishing 11th overall with a time of 26:27. Thad Pajak was 32nd (26:56), followed by Wayne Hooper (41st, 27:05), Nate Sylvester (47th, 27:13) and Wade Schnorr (68th, 27:41). The rest of the Bearcat top ten were Shane Simmons (82nd, 28:01), Jim Walsh (85th, 28:05), Josh Meny (87th, 28:11), Nick Krause (95th, 28:25) and John Garlets (106th, 28:39). In all, 17 Bearcat runners completed the 5-mile course in less than 30 minutes. 220 runners competed overall.

The Bearcat men finished 15th in the highly competitive Penn State National Open XC meet, competing against many NCAA Division I schools. Syracuse University won the event, followed by Cornell and Penn State. A total of 17 teams competed over the 5.2 mile course. Adam Smith was the top Saint Vincent runner, timed in 27:30, finishing 79th. Other top Bearcat harriers included Thad Pajak (27:59, 103rd), Nate Sylvester (28:09, 114th), Wayne Hooper (28:37, 133rd) and Shane Simmons (28:47, 137th).

The SVC men finished fifteenth in the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals, held in Ohio. Adam Smith was SVC's top runner, finishing 42nd overall in a time of 26:42. Rounding out the top five Bearcats were Nate Sylvester (72nd, 27:09), Wade Schnorr (79th, 27:15), Thad Pajak (86th, 27:24) and Wayne Hooper (112th, 27:50). SVC will be back in action on Saturday in the Saint Vincent Invitational.

The Bearcats traveled to the hallowed University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN to participate in the National Catholic Invitational.
Coach Andy Herr's squad enjoyed a very successful day, finishing in 10th out of 31 teams overall (including NCAA Division-I opponents), and 2nd out of 19 squads in the small college division (Divisions II and III). Leading the way for SVC was Adam Smith, who finished the course in 26:42, good for 35th place in a field of 237 runners.
Rounding out the top five for the Bearcats, Wade Schnorr finished in 61st with a 27:28, Wayne Hooper 72nd in 27:38, Thaddeus Pajak 81st in 27:48, and Nate Sylvester 87th with a 27:54.
In the small college division, the Bearcats, who finished with 91 points, were beaten out only by Loras College. Notre Dame took the overall title.

Former Bearcat runners and friends of the XC program joined current SVC student-athletes for an Alumni race to kick of the new schoolyear. Also among the runners were Saint Vincent College President James Towey and his wife Mary.
The top finisher overall was Saint Vincent runner Adam Smith, who finished in a blistering 16:44. 2005 graduate Matt Robson was the top male alumn finisher, recording a 17:15.
Kara Shirley and Laura Magnuson led the Lady Bearcats, each finishing in 21:45. Erica Hogan, a 2003 grad, led all female alumns, crossing the finish line in 25:17.

The Saint Vincent men competed in the Duquesne Duals, held in Pittsburgh's Schenley Park. The University of Pittsburgh finished first overall, followed by Duquense, Saint Vincent, Clarion, Niagara, Carnegie Mellon, Wheeling Jesuit and Saint Bonaventure. SVC's top seven runners on the day, among the field of 97, were: Adam Smith (13th overall) - 27:04, Wade Schnorr (18th) - 27:12, Thaddeus Pajak (25th) - 27:41, Nate Sylvester (30th) - 28:04, Wayne Hooper (34th) - 28:16, Nick Stelitano (36th) - 28:31, Shane Simmons (40th) - 28:44
