Jake Hoone became a part of the Saint Vincent College Cross Country Program in the fall of 2003. As a member of Andy Herr's inaugural squad and a member of the Saint Vincent Chapter of the Apathetic Running Club, Jake has enjoyed many successes and has continually faced the challenges of injury. As a freshmen, Jake placed 22nd with a time of 27:29 at the AMC Championship Meet, qualified him for the 2003 NAIA Cross Country National Championships where he placed 192nd in a time of 27:50. As a sophomore, Jake continually had good performances to lead him to his second consecutive National appearance where he was a member of the first men's cross country team in school history to qualify for the NAIA Cross Country National Championships where he assisted the team to a 20th place finish. As a junior, Jake has battled the recovery from surgery that he had on his achilles tendon in the spring of 2005 and the tendentious that has been an aggravating road block. At Derry Area High School, Jake was the captain of the cross country team and a member of the track and field team.
