The Bearcats wrapped up the 2009 season with a strong showing at the ECAC Championships, taking second place out of 42 teams at the event held in Williamstown, MA.

Individually, Saint Vincent placed five runners in the top 30, led by sophomore Kevin Wanichko's second-place medalist time of 26:40 on the 8K course.

Following Wanichko, SVC's Ryan Barlow finished 18th (27:28), Shane Simmons 20th (27:31), Adam Tucek 23rd (27:38), Jeff Hite 30th (27:46), Josh Hooke 66th (28:32), and Cameron Stumme 75th (28:35).  A total of 295 runners participated in the event.

The lone individual runner to top Wanichko was Johnson and Wales University's Greg Redfield, who earned the individual championship with a time of 26:11.

As a team, the Bearcats finished with a score of 85, behind only Williams College's score of 80.  Bates College finished third, with 97 points, while Amherst took fourth (106), and Vassar fifth (154).

It was the highest finish ever by the Bearcats at the ECAC's, topping the 2007 squad's fourth place performance.  It was also the third straight season in which a Bearcat runner placed in the top three individually, while for Wanichko, it was his second straight medal at the ECAC Championships, as he finished 11th in the 2008 event.
