The Bearcats kicked off the fall season with a 10th place finish at the Guy Kuhn Invitational hosted by Allegheny College. Saint Vincent posted a two-day score of 606 in the tournament consisting of 19 teams, which was won by Indiana University (PA) with a cumulative score of 575. Jeff Varga led SVC and placed 13th overall with a two-day score of 147, firing a 70 on the final day of the event, good for the second lowest score posted. SVC's Doug Mehall finished in 32nd, with a score of 152 (76-76), while teammate Devin Gmitter tied for 41st (154; 82-72), Ben Lenhart 53rd (156; 77-79), and Matt Bronkar 66th (161; 85-76). IUP's Gavin Smith took the individual championship with a two-day score of 140, good for four-under par. A total of 98 golfers participated. Two Bearcats finised in the top 10 the Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Invitational, held at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, PA.
Doug Mehall finished in a tie for 7th, shooting 74-73, for a two-round total of 147. Jeff Varga finished in a tie for 9th, two strokes behind Mehall.
As a team, Saint Vincent shot a 607 (302-305), which would have placed them fourth among eight teams. However, as provisional members of the NCAA, Saint Vincent was not eligible in the team category.
Other Bearcat finishers were Ben Lenhart, who tied for 19th (81-77 = 158), Devin Gmitter, (22nd, 76-83 = 159), and Matt Bronkar (24th, 75-86 = 161). In all, 40 golfers competed.

Bronkar led the Bearcats with a score of 75, good for third overall,
while Doug Mehall finished fifth with a 77. Ben Lenhart and Jeff Varga

Saint Vincent finished fourth among 12 teams in the Muhlenberg College Invitational.
The Bearcats were in 6th place after day one of competition, but jumped
to fourth by posting an identical second-day team score of 321.
Individually, Jeff Varga, Matt Bronkar and Devin Gmitter all tied for
20th overall, shooting two-day scores of 162. Doug Mehall was one
stroke back at 163, while Ben Lenhart shot 167. Varga had a team-best
77 on the first day, while both Bronkar and Mehall shot 77 on day two.
Trinity College won the team title with a score of 611, followed by
Muhlenberg (627), Allegheny (630) and Saint Vincent (642). Washington
& Jefferson was fifth, at 643, followed by Lafayette (647),
Moravian (651), Swarthmore (682), Hobart (684), Neumann (686), Penn
State Harrisburg (689) and Ursinus (717).

The Bearcats opened the spring schedule with a second place team finish at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
Saint Vincent was paced by Steve Fiori, who turned in an impressive one-over 71 to finish second individually in a field of 40 golfers.
SVC's Doug Mehall shot a 74 to take sixth individually, while Matt Bronkar finished 18th (83), Ben Lenhart tied for 21st (84), and Jason Hammel tied for 24th (85).
Carnegie Mellon won the team title, with a cumulative score of 294 (+14), followed by SVC (312), California Univ. of PA (314), Westminster (322), Mercyhurst (332), and LaRoche (361).
CMU's Alex Timmons earned the individual championship, edging Fiori with an even-par 70.

The Bearcats finished a solid seventh among 17 teams in the Indiana University of PA Invitational, the best among Division III teams competing.
SVC shot 304-300 for a team total of 604. Concord University won the even with a team score of 577, followed by Clarion (584), IUP (585), Saint Francis (590), Millersville (591) and Cal U of PA (597).
Allegheny College finished eighth, just one stroke behind Saint Vincent. Rounding out the tournament were West Chester, WV Wesleyan, Gannon, West Liberty State, Lake Erie College, West Virginia State, Mercyhurst, Seton Hill and Salem International.
Individually, Steve Fiori led the Bearcats with a two-round total of 146 (76-70), good for eighth overall. His second round score put him in the top five for the day.
Matt Bronkar finished in 24th (75-75), while Doug Mehall was 31st (75-77). Ben Lenhart shot identical rounds of 78, while Jason Hammel shot 86-93.

Led by Doug Mehall, the Bearcats turned in a strong showing at the 2009 Saint Vincent Bearcat Invitational, hosted by the Latrobe Country Club.
Mehall took first place individually, out of 75 golfers, with a one-under 71, including a stellar 34 on the back nine.
The Bearcats had two seperate teams entered in the event, with the SVC Gold squad finishing second and the SVC Green squad tying for fourth.
Matt Bryan was SVC's second best finisher, tying for 10th place with a score of 79. Devin Gmitter and Matt Bronkar each tied for 16th with scores of 80, while Jeff Varga finished right behind, shooting an 81. Steve Fiori and Sean Devlin each fired 82's, while Ben Lenhart shot 83 and Jon Luczka 84.
The SVC Gold squad, consisting of Mehall, Bronkar, Varga, Fiori, and Lenhart, turned in a team score of 314, while the Green team, of Bryan, Gmitter, Devlin, Luczka, and Dan Ushler, combined for a score of 325.
Clarion University captured the team title with a cumulative score of 304, as the Golden Eagles boasted the second, third, fourth, and sixth place individual finishers. Washington & Jefferson took third (323) while Allegheny College tied SVC Green for fourth, with a cumulative score of 325.
West Liberty State and Westminster each tied for sixth, followed by Grove City, California (PA), Waynesburg, Seton Hill, Slippery Rock, Mercyhurst, Pitt-Greensburg, and Thiel.

Saint Vincent's Doug Mehall finished first individually, and the Bearcats finished third as a team, at the 2009 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by the Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, PA.
In 36 holes of play on the final day of the event, Mehall totaled a 72 on the first 18 and a 70 over the final 18 to finish with a cumulative score of an even-par 142, five strokes ahead of his closest competitor, Tom Ruzick of Thomas More College.
Steve Fiori was SVC's second finisher, taking fourth overall with a score of 151 (77-74). Matt Bronkar finished 15th, firing a two-round total of 158 (76-82), while teammate Jeff Varga finished one shot behind for 16th (159 - 75-84).
Mehall and Ruzick were named co-MVPs of the event, while Mehal and Fiori each earned PAC Coaches Honors, the equivalent of All-PAC recognition for athletes from provisional schools, like Saint Vincent.
A total of 37 golfers from eight PAC schools participated in the event.
Washington & Jefferson won the overall title, with a team score of 607, followed by Thomas More (609), SVC (610), Westminster (624), Grove City (636), Thiel (730), and Bethany (735).

Steve Fiori won the individual title, and the Bearcats held on for a one stroke team victory in the McBride-Behringer-Allen "MBA" Invitational hosted by Grove City College.
Fiori shot 35-35, and his total of 70 was three strokes better than his nearest competitor. Jeff Varga finished seventh with a 78, while Sean Devlin finished tied for 18th with a round of 83. Other Bearcats competing were Ben Lenhart (85) and Matt Bryan (89).
SVC's team score of 316 was tops among the nine schools that competed. Notre Dame College (OH) and Grove City tied for second with 317. Westminster College ("A" squad) was fourth with a 325, followed by Penn State-Altoona (331), Westminter's B squad (338), Waynesburg (338), Thiel (374) and Bethany (399).
