Biology major uses A.J. Palumbo Grant to research nicotine

Senior biology major Branden Teets will use his A.J. Palumbo Student Research Grant to present his research at the annual meeting of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology which will be held April 1-5 in San Francisco. He has written the following about his research: “The project that I conducted was testing the hormonal response between male and female rats after being subjected to acute nicotine administration and chronic nicotine administration. The results showed that females have a stronger response to nicotine, with the stronger response being from the acute administration. My research project was done in conjunction with previous findings from Dr. Michael Rhodes, formerly of Allegheny General Hospital and now teaching at Saint Vincent College.”
