Seniors, Lucas Guthrie and Alison Posgay, were honored at the Act 101, Region G Student Awards Luncheon on Saturday, April 11, at Westmoreland County Community College. The Act 101 staff selected the students because of their academic progress, their contribution to the campus community, and their commitment and dedication to the Opportunity program. Lucas, a history major, received an A.J. Palumbo Grant to travel to the University of Notre Dame to research a Catholic Peace Group called Pax Christi USA. Alison, a Communication major, has successfully juggled the demands of being a full time student, wife, and mother. Both students have been active participants in the Act 101 program and both were honored at the Opportunity SVC/Act 101 Recognition Tea held annually to recognize program students who achieve a 3.0 or higher during the spring and/or fall semesters. Act 101 Director, Nancy Rottler, introduced Lucas and Alison and presented them with a certificate and a portfolio.
