Dr. Cline awarded state marketing research contract
|
Dr. Thomas Cline, associate professor of business administration and special assistant to the president for marketing, was awarded a marketing research contract sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration during December 2005. Dr. Cline enlisted the McKenna School's Marketing Matrix to help with the field work and to participate in the data analysis.

Wellness Fair to be held on March 30
|
Wellness Fair 2006 will be held on Thursday, March 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Center Student Lounge. More than 30 vendors will be on hand sharing interactive and educational information. You can Ask the Doctor, try the Dermavision test for proper skin care, have your blood pressure and blood sugar checked, do some aroma therapy, get a massage, whiten your smile, make your own trail mix, practice karate, paraffin dip your hands or feet, Ask the Pharmacist, learn about martial arts and much more. The fair is free and open to the Saint Vincent Community.

84 Lumber representative to talk with students on Thursday, April 6
|
Mike Jackson from 84 Lumber will be on campus Thursday, April 6 from 1 to 2 p.m. to talk to students about careers with 84 Lumber. Mr. Jackson will discuss career opportunities in corporate inventory management, marketing, human resources and accounting. He also will discuss management trainee positions at stores throughout the U.S. Students and alumni must sign up in Career Services, located on the ground floor of Prep Hall by Monday April 3.

Applications now available for writing workshop
|
Applications for Alpha, the summer Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Workshop for Young Writers, will be taken until April 1. The writing residency is for teens, 14 to 19 years of age, and will be held July 19 - 28 at the University of Pittsburgh -- Greensburg.. Tamora Pierce, Timothy Zahn, Wen Spencer and Dora Goss are this year's featured author guests, along with a large staff of local writers.

Internship forms due by July 1

Career Services reminds students that registration is required for internships, career-related experiences, on or off–campus, paid or non-paid, variable credit(s). Prior faculty approval is required. Forms are available in Career Services, ground floor, Prep Hall. Forms are also available at http://www.stvincent.edu/cooperative_education4. Summer internship forms are due to Career Services by July 1. Students may NOT register retroactively for internships. Additional information is available from Donna Morrison in Career Services.

Alumnus in state government to visit class on April 21
|
Michael A. Walsh, C'96, who earned his degree in political science at the McKenna School, will be visiting Dr. Gabriel Pellathy's class at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 21 in Carey Center Room 21. Mr. Walsh is executive assistant to the secretary of administration in the Pennsylvania Governor's Office in Harrisburg and special assistant to the Pennsylvania Gaming Board. There is room for six or seven campus visitors.
