Applications for Alpha, the summer Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Workshop for Young Writers, will be taken until April 1. The writing residency is for teens, 14 to 19 years of age, and will be held July 19 - 28 at the University of Pittsburgh -- Greensburg.. Tamora Pierce, Timothy Zahn, Wen Spencer and Dora Goss are this year's featured author guests, along with a large staff of local writers. During last year's Alpha Workshop, the twenty students and staff were invited to the Saint Vincent College campus for a day where they enjoyed the hospitality, used the computer classroom, lunched in the cafeteria and took a campus tour.
