The next featured speaker in the "Up Close and Personal" Series is Mary Wnek, SVC alumnae and Safety Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Engineering District 10 in Indiana.  The event is slated for Monday March 27 in the Metten Room from 5  to 6:30 p.m.
 
Ms. Wnek will be speaking to students in an informal gathering over dinner about her career path, pivotal courses and internships. She will also talk to students about her current job and the best way to prepare for entry into human resources.
 
She graduated from Saint Vincent College in 1990 with a bachelor of
science degree in psychology. She worked as a counselor at Adelphoi  Village
immediately following graduation.
 
She gravitated to a career in human resources after getting experience as a trainer and employee mentor at Adelphoi. In 2000 she left Adelphoi and was hired as a human resource management trainee with the state in what was formerly known as the Personnel Analyst Trainee program.
 
The trainee program required that she work in Harrisburg for one year and rotate among four state agencies completing human resources related assignments. Upon completion of the program, she was promoted to a Human Resouces Analyst 1 position at Torrance State hospital where she worked for two years as a generalist. She attended Saint Francis University in the evening while working at Torrance and graduated in 2003 with a master’s degree in human resources and industrial relations.
 
In 2003 she was hired at PennDOT District 10 in Indiana as a Human Resource Analyst 2. She specializes in employee safety issues in her current position.
 
Students must register in Career Series located on the ground floor of Prep Hall by Friday March 24 at noon.
