History course rated by College Board Advanced Placement Best Practices Study
|
Dr. Susan Mitchell-Sommers' "Contemporary Europe II" course was recently rated by the College Board Advanced Placement Best Practices Study as one of the top 20 examples of best practices from among all submitted courses in European History. The Center for Educational Policy Research (CEPR) at the University of Oregon will analyze these courses as part of the redesign of the European History Advanced Placement course.

Biology major receives Palumbo Grant to assist in research
|
Senior biology major, Christopher Gazze, received a Palumbo Grant to study the effects of crumb rubber and simulated wear on an athletic field. He is currently working with his advisor, Dr. Cynthia Walter, to publish this research in the Journal of the Pennsylvania Acadmeny of Science.

Library Final Exam and Commencement Week Schedule

On Monday, May 1 through Thursday, May 4, the Library will be open from 8:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. each day. The Library will be open Friday, May 5, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; Saturday, May 6, 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m; and Sunday, May 7 the Library will be CLOSED.

Summer Library Schedules
|
The Library schedule for pre-summer school begins Monday, May 8 through Friday, May 12 when the Library will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The Library will be CLOSED Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14.
The Library schedule for summer school begins Monday, May 15 through Thursday, August 3. The schedule is as follows: Sunday, CLOSED; Monday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
The Library schedule for Memorial Day weekend: Saturday, May 27, 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.; Sunday, May 28 and Monday, May 29, CLOSED.

Oblates to meet May 21
|
The Oblates of Saint Benedict affiliated with Saint Vincent Archabbey will meet at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, in Brownfield Room 202 of Saint Vincent Seminary. The topic of discussion will be “Spiritual Discipline,” based on the Chapter 25 of the book Benedict’s Way, with emphasis on effort, persistence, responsibility and joy in the spiritual life. Those who have copies of the book should bring them; copies will be supplied to others.
