Senior Psychology major, Erin McGrath, recently received a Palumbo Grant to present her senior research. She had the following to say about her research: “The Eastern Psychological Association holds a yearly conference where undergraduate students, graduate students, and professors share their research. In addition, experts are invited to speak about their particular fields at the conference. As an associate member of the EPA, I presented my senior thesis research at the conference this year. Not only did I share my results about the influence of parenting style on aggression with peers and researchers, but I also learned from other research findings. This conference was a wonderful opportunity for me to become comfortable in a professional psychological setting. I plan to go to graduate school next fall and attain a Master of Social Work. In the masters program, I will complete a master thesis. The information I gained at the EPA conference from other researchers will help me in the future. Likewise, the practice of presenting my hypotheses, statistical analyses, interpretation of results, and conclusions at the conference will help me conduct future research. This year, the EPA conference was held in Baltimore, Maryland from Thursday, March 16 to Saturday March 18. The Palumbo Grant helped me finance the supplies, travel, lodging, food, and registration for the conference this year.”
