Meet Our Staff

Executive in Residence

Rodger B. Lewis most recently was Senior Vice President of Manufacturing for Bombardier Corporation.  A 1975 graduate of Saint Vincent College, Mr. Lewis has served in executive roles around the world for Volkswagen, Toyota and General Motors International.  He was one of a team of 12 people who opened and operated the Toyota Plant in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Rodger B. Lewis is the Chair of the Council of Advisors for the Center for Operational Excellence. Mr. Lewis also serves as Executive-in-Residence with the McKenna School of Business, Economics and Government.  He is available to mentor the senior executives of area manufacturing firms in the principles and practice of operating organizations using the philosophy and tools of Operational Excellence.

 


 

Executive Director

David E. Adams is the executive director of the Kennametal Center for Operational Excellence of the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government at Saint Vincent College.   Mr. Adams joined the Saint Vincent College administrative staff in 1994 as director of facility management and recently has served as director of special projects and director of planning and engineering for the College.  He took the helm of the Center in 2005.

In addition to his work at Saint Vincent, Mr. Adams has served in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps in various leadership capacities during a 21-year career of both active and reserve service including a tour of duty serving Presidents Reagan and Bush at the Presidential Retreat, Camp David, as the command's contingency readiness officer. In 2001 Mr. Adams was recalled to active duty for his expertise in anti-terrorism and force protection as part of Operation Noble Eagle – the President’s call-up of reserves in answer to the terrorist attacks on the U.S. on Sept. 11.  For his Navy service, Mr. Adams has received several awards including the Presidential Service Award, Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal with 3 Gold Stars.  He retired on 1 October 2007 at the rank of Commander.

Mr. Adams brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Kennametal Center. He has made presentations at regional and national conferences on the subject of leadership with a special emphasis on values-based integration and decision-making. Mr. Adams lectures in the College's Certified Emerging Leaders Program for Student Leaders, challenging today's young adults to think deeply about their personal value system.

A Latrobe native, Mr. Adams graduated in 1982 from the Greater Latrobe High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 1986 from the Virginia Military Institute. He resides in Ligonier with his wife, Roberta, and their four children, and is active in several community and church groups.


 

Senior Consultant

Dr. Richard Kunkle, M.D. earned his AB in Biology at Gettysburg College, his MD at the University of Pittsburgh and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Kentucky. He directed an emergency department for 20 years and for the last 4 years had been the Associate Medical Director and Associate Director of a 200 bed community hospital. Dr. Kunkle is among the first recipients of Saint Vincent College’s Certificate in Operational Excellence. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative’s Perfecting Patient Care University and is experienced in implementing many of the tools of the Toyota Production System in the healthcare environment.

 
 

 

Trainer

Allan Edwards serves the Kennametal Center for Operational Excellence as a trainer and program coordinator.  He has been with the Center since May of 2006. He received his B.A. from Grove City College.  He specializes in Lean Basics Tools Seminars, Team Building Facilitation and Design, and the administration and logistics of the center. You can reach him for information or to register for a program at 724.805.2142

 


Assistant Director

Steven R. Leuschel is the assistant director of the Kennametal Center for Operational Excellence ofthe Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government at SaintVincent College.   Mr. Leuschel joined the KCOE team as a Co-Opstudent in May of 2005 and has also served as a graduate assistant for the Center before his current position. Mr. Leuschel graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, with minors Business Management and Operational Excellence.  He is currently pursuing his Masters in Management: Operational Excellence at Saint Vincent College. 

The Saint Marys native has served as Executive Board President of Student Government Association, in which he helped toorganize a town hall meeting that was nationally televised on C-SPAN.  Mr. Leuschel was one of four Saint Vincent students to greet President George W. Bush as Marine One landed on campus when the President spoke at the 2007 Commencement. 

Steven specialized is teaching and training lean and OE principles as well as coaching, in particular, Continuous Improvement Process Teams within organizations.  In his spare time Steve enjoys hiking, hunting, and running.  

Senior Co-op Student

Ryan Dreliszak is a native of Connellsville, PA where he graduated with highest honors from Geibel Catholic High School in 2006. Ryan is the son of Mark and Mary Dreliszak, and the oldest of three siblings. Ryan is currently a senior at St. Vincent College in the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government working towards a bachelor's of science in Business Finance with a minor in Operational Excellence. Along with making the dean's list each semester, Ryan is involved with Student Government Association, Orientation Committee, as well as several intra-mural sports. Ryan is actively involved in coaching youth hockey, including Geibel Catholic High School. Ryan began working for KCOE in January of 2008. 

 

Senior Co-op Student

John M. Matta is a native of Greensburg, PA where he graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic High School in 2006. There he had been a 4 year member of both the cross country and track teams. He continues to be an active runner and cyclist. John is the son of Luanne and Marty Matta. He is currently a senior at St. Vincent College and is enrolled in the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government. He is majoring in Business Management and International Business and minoring in Operational Excellence. He began working for KCOE in January 2008. 

Junior Co-op Student

Michael J. Senuta is a native of Greensburg, PA where he graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic High School in 2007. There he had been a 4-year letterman in both the golf and track teams. Michael is the son of Dr. Nicholas and Mary Senuta. Michael is currently a junior at St. Vincent College in the Alex G. Mckenna School of Business, Economics, and Government working towards a bachelor's of science in Business Finance with a minor in Operational Excellence. Along with making the dean's list each semester, Michael is actively involved with the Student Government Association and Finance Club. Michael began working for KCOE in January of 2009.

Junior Co-op Student

Dan Niemiec is a native of Greensburg, PA where he graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic High School in 2007. There he was a member of the track and field team for three years. Dan is the son of Paul and Mary Niemiec and is the oldest of three siblings. He is currently a junior at St. Vincent College in the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government working towards a bachelor's of science in Business Management with a minor in Operational Excellence. He began working for KCOE in January 2009.
