The Bearcats opened the spring schedule with a second place team finish at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

Saint Vincent was paced by Steve Fiori, who turned in an impressive one-over 71 to finish second individually in a field of 40 golfers.

SVC's Doug Mehall shot a 74 to take sixth individually, while Matt Bronkar finished 18th (83), Ben Lenhart tied for 21st (84), and Jason Hammel tied for 24th (85).

Carnegie Mellon won the team title, with a cumulative score of 294 (+14), followed by SVC (312), California Univ. of PA (314), Westminster (322), Mercyhurst (332), and LaRoche (361).

CMU's Alex Timmons earned the individual championship, edging Fiori with an even-par 70.

The Bearcat golfers will return to action on Monday, taking part in the two-day Indiana University (PA) Invitational at Indiana Country Club.
