Saint Vincent's Jeff Varga finished second individually as the Bearcats took seventh place at the two-day IUP Invitational at the Indiana Country Club. Varga shot an even-par 71 on the event's first day, and a two-under 69 on the second day to finish with a two day score of 140, two strokes under par. He was one of only two players to finish the invitational under par, behind individual champion Gavin Smith of IUP, who finished five under. Doug Mehall was the second Bearcat finisher, with a two-day score of 152 (77, 75), good for 24th overall. SVC's Matt Bronkar and Adam Agin tied for 38th place, both recording two day scores of 156, while John Luckza finished 54th. A total of 62 golfers from 12 colleges participated. IUP took the team title, with a cumulative score of 576, followed by West Liberty State (586), Millersville (589), Clarion (594), Concord (595), and Duquesne (602). The Bearcats tied for seventh with California and Allegheny, all posting cumulative team scores of 604. West Chester, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Seton Hill rounded out the participating teams. The Bearcats will now return to the course on Thursday, hosting the Saint Vincent Invitational at the Latrobe Country Club on Thursday, beginning at noon.
