3/3 - Elizabethtown

The Bearcat men lost their season opener on the road against Elizabethtown by a score of 13-8.

SVC fell behind early, trailing 5-2 at the end of the first quarter and 8-4 at the half.  Despite an improved second half performance, SVC was unable to recover.

Evan Chateauneuf scored 3 goals for SVC, while Luke Swerdlow and Bart Costello added 2 each.  Gavin Bates scored once.

Swerdlow added four assists on the afternoon, while Chris Hammond added one helper.

3/6 - Wingate

The Bearcats lost on the road in North Carolina to Wingate University by a score of 20-9.

It was a good day for players named Costello, as SVC's Bart Costello scored five goals, but he was outdone by Wingate's Kyle Costello, who tallied six goals and four assists for the hosts (3-0).

Overall, Wingate outshot SVC by a 45-26 margin and took advantage of 13 Bearcat penalties, which resulted in five extra-man goals.

3/24 - Wittenberg

The Bearcats picked up their first win of the season, an 11-9 victory over Wittenberg in a game held at Franklin Regional High School.

Evan Chateauneuf and Bart Costello each scored four goals, while Gavin Bates added two and Luke Swerdlow scored once.

Alden Ainsworth picked up the victory in the net. 

3/26 - Hartwick

The Bearcats lost to Hartwick by a score of 12-5 in a game played at Lycoming College.

Gavin Bates scored two goals, while Evan Chateauneuf had a goal and an assist.  Other SVC goals were scored by Luke Swerdlow and Mark Duman, while Bart Costello added an assist.

SVC is now 1-3 on the year.

3/28 - Seton Hill

The Seton Hill University Griffins defeated the Bearcats by a score of 17-10, the first time that SHU has defeated the Bearcat men in program history.

After a 2-2 opening quarter, Seton Hill scored six goals in the second quarter to take an 8-5 lead at the half.  The teams played evenly in the third quarter, but SHU outgunned SVC 6-1 i the final quarter to seal the win.

Jeff D'Antonio, Bart Costello, Luke Swerdlow and Gavin Bates each scored twice, while Mark Duman and Michael Thompson scored one goal each.

3/31- Denison

Denison University downed the Bearcats by a score of 12-5 in Latrobe.

The game was close throughout much of the first quarter, with Denison taking a 1-0 lead with 2:33 remaining.  The Big Red added their second goal with just 2 seconds remaining in the quarter, and the goal seemed to deflate the Bearcats.  Denison outscored the home team 6-1 in the second quarter and SVC could not recover.

Luke Swerdlow scored three goals for SVC, while Bart Costello and Evan Chateauneuf added one each.  Gavin Bates recorded two assists.

4/5 - Ohio Wesleyan

Four goals from Bart Costello weren't enough, as SVC lost to Ohio Wesleyan by a score of 14-8.

Evan Chateauneuf added three goals, while Gavin Bates had a goal and an assist.  Luke Swerdlow posted three assists, and TJ Roney had one, but SVC dropped to 1-6 on the year.

Alden Ainsworth recorded 19 saves and Jon McMahon had three in the net.

4/14 - Kenyon

Kenyon College upended the Bearcats by a score of 20-9 in Ohio.

Jeff D'Antonio and Bart Costello each scored three goals, while Gavin Bates, Luke Swerdlow and TJ Roney each scored one. 

4/19 - Seton Hill

The Bearcats avenged their ealier loss to the Griffins by defeating them on the road by a score of 12-9.

Luke Swerdow, Jeff D'Antonio and Bart Costello each scored three goals and added an assist.  Gavin Bates added a goal and and three assists, while Evan Chateauneuf had a goal and an assist.  Mark Duman added a goal, and Nick Aspiotes had an assist. 

Alden Ainsworth picked up the victory in goal, recording 15 saves. 

4/21 - Wheeling Jesuit

The Bearcats won their second consecutive game, defeating Wheeling Jesuit University by a score of 13-10.

Bart Costello led the offense with five goals and an assist  Gavin Bates, Luke Swerdlow and Evan Chateauneuf each posted four points on the day.  Bates had three goals and an assist, Swerdlow posted two of each and Chateauneuf had a goal and 3 assists.  Jeff D'Antonio had a pair of goals.

Alden Ainsworth saved 15 shots and recorded the win in goal.

4/28 - Goucher

The Goucher College Gophers defeated the Saint Vincent Bearcats by a score of 13-8 in Latrobe.

SVC fell behind early but fought back to tie the game 2-2 at the end of the first quarter.  However, the Gophers outscored SVC 5-2 in the second and never gave up the lead.

Jeff D'Antonio scored four goals for SVC (3-8).  Bart Costello had two goals and an assist, Gavin Bates had a goal and an assist, Evan Chateauneuf scored one goal and Luke Swerdlow added an assist.  Alden Ainsworth recorded 13 saves in the net for the Bearcats.

4/29 - Mt. St. Joseph

Bart Costello scored the 100th goal of his career in an 11-4 victory over the College of Mt. St. Joseph.

SVC's Luke Swerdlow scored just 48 seconds into the game to set the tone for the day.  Eight minutes later, Costello took a pass from Swerdlow and found the net, becoming the fifth player in school history to reach the century mark in goals. 

The Bearcats opened up a 7-1 lead by halftime and MSJ never recovered.

For the afternoon, Jeff D'Antonio led the way with 3 goals.  Costello and Evan Chateauneuf added two each, while Swerdlow, Nick Aspiotes, Mike Fishman and Mason Fast each scored once.

Mike Leiendecker was successful on 14 of 16 faceoffs.  Jon McMahon started and picked up the win in the net.

SVC ends the year with a 4-8 record.
