The Bearcats opened the 2008 season with a 19-9 loss on the road against Virginia Wesleyan College.

Zach Wilfong scored six goals in his Bearcat debut. Jason Powell added a pair of goals while Evan Chateauneuf scored once. Luke Swerdlow had three assists and Ryan Kearney had one.

Jon McMahon took the loss in goal for the Bearcats (0-1)
