The Bearcats lost to a tough Ohio Wesleyan team at home by a score of 17-2. The Battling Bishops set the tone early, scoring just 34 seconds into the game. Neither team scored for the next 6+ minutes, before Ohio Wesleyan tacked on two quick goals within 30 seconds to go ahead 3-0. With the score 4-0, Pat Bursch scored for SVC at the 5:51 mark of the first quarter, but OWU tacked on two more goals to take a 6-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, thanks to several key saves by goalie Ryan Perone. OWU made it 9-1 in the second before Ryan Kearney scored for the Bearcats off an assist from Jarrid Johnson. Once again, however, Perone stonewalled the hosts and SVC was down 10-1 at the halftime break. The visitors changed goalies in the second half, but backup Jud Hall shut down SVC over the final 30 minutes, and OWU pulled away to a 17-2 victory. SVC was outshot 38-28 for the day, and managed only one shot in the fourth quarter. The Bearcats (2-5) are back in action next Saturday at Denison University.
