SVC falls to Virginia Wesleyan

by Jeremy Smith The Bearcats opened the season with a 16-12 loss on the road at Virginia Wesleyan College. Wesleyan jumped out to quick lead nine seconds into the first quarter. Saint Vincent quickly answered and took a 7-6 lead into halftime. Shortly after the beginning of the 3rd quarter, Virginia Wesleyan took the lead for good. Junior Neil Quinn and sophomores Jack Dick and Ryan Kearney each tallied three goals for Saint Vincent. Freshman Will Delanoy added two goals and five assists. Sophomore Pat Bursch rounded out the scoring with one goal. The Bearcats return to action on March 8th against Saint John Fisher at a neutral site in Baltimore.
