Twelfth-ranked Tartans shut down SVC

The visiting Carnegie Mellon University Tartans, ranked 12th in the nation, overpowered the Bearcats for a 6-0 win on the Saint Vincent turf. CMU was led by senior forward Ricky Griffin, who tallied the Tartans first five goals, with two over the final 20 minutes of the first half and three more in the first six minutes of the second frame. For the game, the Tartans outshot the Bearcats 35-5, as SVC goalie Clemente Mejia made seven saves and teammate Jacob Gilbertson five in the losing effort. Carnegie Mellon also had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 3-6-1 on the season, and they will return to action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Lycoming College for a 1pm contest.
