Saint Vincent's Ben Fecik scored in overtime to give the Bearcats a 2-1 win at Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Westminster College.

The win was the Bearcats' first in four overtime affairs this season, while it kept the team unbeaten against PAC rivals.

The Bearcats' Luis Rodriguez opened the game's scoring with an unassisted tally in the game's 27th minute, for his PAC-leading 12th goal of the season.

Westminster evened the score 12 minutes before halftime, on a header goal by Jake Huey.

The game was a defensive struggle over the second 45 minutes, as neither team was able to score a go-ahead tally.  Bearcat goalie Jacob Gilbertson made four second-half saves, and Titan keeper Lance Leathers three, and the game headed into overtime.

Two minutes into the extra session, Fecik took a through ball from Rodriguez and sent it past Leathers, to give the visiting Bearcats the dramatic victory.

"It was just a good game on both sides," said SVC head coach Keith Harmon.  "It feels good to finally win one in overtime."

For the game, the Bearcats had a slim 18-17 advantage in shots, and Harmon was quick to give praise to his team's defense.

"Our whole defense was just excellent," he said.  "Jake played great, making three point-blank saves right away to keep us in it.  Matt Fecik, Dean Jordan, Christian Ricci, and Ben Skvarca played really well in the back, stopping a bunch of attacks and just controlling the game."

Gilbertson ended the day with eight saves to earn the victory.

After getting off to a 3-8-1 start in non-conference action, the Bearcats are now 7-8-1, and Harmon feels that his team is peaking at the right time.

"I told our guys," he said, "that it's great to be 4-0 in conference games, even though we're still provisional.  This is the right time to get hot."

SVC will now have a four-day layoff before returning to action on Friday, hosting another PAC foe, Washington & Jefferson, at 4pm on the Bearcat Turf.
