The Bearcats opened the season with a narrow 126-125 victory over Penn
State-Altoona on the road.
The team of Zack Krejdovsky, Joe Bruzda, Eric Clouse and Jon Okonak won the
200 IM Medley, while Clouse also took first in the 200 Fly. Troy Linebaugh won
the 50 free, while Bruzda set a new school record in the 200 back, timed in
2:09.92.
Bruzda also won the 200 IM, while Krejdovsky captured the 500 Freestyle.

The Bearcat men lost a close meet against Penn State-Behrend on the road,
falling 131-123.
Eric Clouse earned a pair of first place finishes, winning the 100 and 200
Fly, with times of 57.24 and 2:19.09, respectively. Joe Bruzda was a winner in
the 200 Backstroke (2:09.93), then tied for first in the 200 IM (2:11.04) ,
despite falling behind by 1.5 seconds in the first 50 yards.
In the 1000 Free, SVC finished second, third and fourth, with Bruzda, Dan
Brett and Adam Hodnichak, respectively. With a time of 11:39.30, Hodnichak
dropped 15 seconds off his lifetime best effort in the event. Hodnichak also
had a career best in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing third, timed in 1:11.94.
The 200 Free Relay team of Troy Linebaugh, Clouse, Bruzda and Jon Okonak
finished in 1:39.07, good for second.

The Bearcats lost their home opener to Grove City College. Joe Bruzda set a new school record while winning the 200 backstroke, and also eclipsed a school record by 10 seconds with a second place finish in the 400 IM. Jon Okonak had a pair of second place finishes, in the 50 and 100 Free, while Dan Brett was second in the 500 Free.

The Bearcats lost on the road to Mount Union College. Troy Linebaugh won the 50 Freestyle in 24:03, while Joe Bruzda won the 200 Backstroke in 2:10.58. Second
place finishes went to Dan Brett (1000 Freestyle), Zack Krejdovsky (200
& 500 Free), Bruzda (100 Backstroke), Eric Clouse (200 Butterfly)
and Jon Okonak in the 100 Free.

The Bearcat men finished 8th among 9 teams at the Wooster Invitational, held at the Ellen Shapiro Natatorium. Freshman Joe Bruzda led the way for SVC, breaking his own school records in the 400 IM and 200 Backstroke on his way to fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively. He also finished 10th in the 500 Free. Junior Eric Clouse also set a school record in the 200 Fly, placing seventh. Clouse also posted a 9th place finish in the 100 Fly, where he made the ECAC cut with a 54.40. Jon Okonak finished 18th in the 50 Free, 19th in the 100 Free, and 15th in the 100 Fly. Zack Krejdowsky was 11th in the 1650 Free and 14th in the 500 Free. The Bearcats also had several top efforts in relay swims over the weekend, just missing several school records.

The Bearcats overpowered host Bethany College on the road, winning by a score of 80-63. The Bearcat swimmers were defeated 111-82 at Washington & Jefferson. Winners on the evening for the Bearcats included:
50 Yd. Freestyle- Jon Okonak- :22.97 200 Yd. Butterfly- Eric Clouse - 2:15.24 200 Yd. Backstroke- Joe Bruzda- 2:07.07 500 Yd. Freestyle- Zack Krejdovsky- 5:08.75
Krejdovsky also finished second in the 1,000 Yd Freestyle, turning in a time of 10:43.08, while Okonak's time of .50.96 in the 100 Yd. Freestyle was also good for second place.
Josh Shrum finished second in the 200 Breaststroke, with a time of 2:31.40, while the SVC 200 Yd. Freestyle Relay Squad, consisting of Clouse, Krejdovsky, Okonak, and Greg Jackson, turned in a third place performance with a time of 1:35.

The Bearcats lost a home meet to Westminster College by a score of 151-92. In the day's first men's event, the team of Joe Bruzda, Josh Shrum, Eric Clouse and Troy Linebaugh finished second among 5 teams in the 200 Medley Relay, timed in 1:45.35. Next, Zack Krejdovsky finished second in the marathon 1000 Freestyle, timed in 10:46.24, earning four points for the team. He later finished second in the 500 Free (5:13.82). In a closely contested 100 Backstroke, Bruzda finished third in 58.34. Clouse finished a strong second in the 200 Butterfly in the time of 2:09.71, and later won the 100 Butterly in 55.41. Jon Okonak picked up 9 points for the hosts, winning the 50 Free in 22.95. He later finished third in the 100 Free, timed in 51.83. Bruzda returned later in the day to finish second in the 200 Backstroke, with a time of 2:06.27.
