The Bearcats snapped their four-match losing streak with a 5-4 victory over visiting Notre Dame College (OH) at the Greensburg Racquet Club. In singles play, the Bearcats dropped their first two matches of the afternoon, but then regrouped in a big way. Daniel Chirdon continued his strong season in the number three spot, picking up a 6-3, 6-1 win. Steve Filipiak's match in the number five singles spot proved to be the match of the day. After dropping his first set 3-6, Filipiak evened the match by winning a hard-fought second set 7-5. He clinched the win by picking up a 6-4 win in the third and final set. In the sixth singles spot, Tyler Camaione also used three sets for the victory - 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 - and the Bearcats entered doubles play tied 3-3. Filipiak and Zac Parkhill won the first doubles match 8-5, and then the duo of Chirdon/Troy Smith clinched the win for SVC with an 8-2 victory in the number two doubles spot. The win improves the Bearcats' record to 3-4. The squad will now have an 11-day layoff before returning to action on March 24th when it travels to Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Bethany College for a 4pm match.
