SVC Concert Series Opens with Soprano Sari Gruber Sept. 10

Sensational soprano opera star Sari Gruber will open the 2011-2012 Saint Vincent College Concert Series at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 10 in the Robert S. Carey Student Center Performing Arts Center.

Ms. Gruber’s program will be well-loved arias by Pergolesi, Scarlatti, Handel, Puccini and Rossini. Admission is $25 and tickets will be available at the door or by calling 724 805-2565.

Season tickets, flex passes, group rates and student discounts are also available.

A dinner concert package, A Classic Evening at Saint Vincent, is offered for $50 with advance reservations.

Hailed as “nothing short of sensational” by Opera magazine, soprano Sari Gruber's exciting and moving interpretations have rapidly established her as one of today's most sought-after artists on the musical stage. This Pittsburgh resident has performed recitals in the major performance halls of America, including: New York’s Alice Tully Hall, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie, and the 92nd Street Y.

She has performed with dozens of opera companies across the country, including: Arizona Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, Connecticut Opera, Juilliard Opera Center, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, New York City Opera, Opera Carolina, Opera Colorado, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Opera Pacific, Pittsburgh Opera, and San Francisco Opera. Ms. Gruber is also a much desired soloist in oratorios, cantatas and other large scale works by such esteemed orchestras as: the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Chautauqua Institution, Houston Symphony, New York City Ballet, New York Philharmonic, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Boston Baroque and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Gruber will be accompanied by pianist Mark Trawke.
