Dozens of Saint Vincent College students will take a break from their normal routine on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 9 to join the Bearcat Light Brigade and help decorate the campus for Founders’ Day on Thursday, November 17 and the Christmas holiday season.

The purpose of the volunteer group is to beautify the Melvin Platz garden area for the Christmas season with white icicle lights and the traditional arches. A new addition to the display this year will be a synchronized light display accompanied by Christmas music.

The Brigade work will begin at 12:30 p.m. and continue until their work is finished. All campus offices will be open and classes will meet as usual.

Groups of volunteers will be assigned to work at specific tasks including attaching lights to the arches and installing the arches and wiring them together. Volunteers will also work to string lights around the Robert S. Carey Student Center. No skill is required and no one will be asked to use any power tools. Volunteers will be given a Bearcat Light Brigade shirt for their efforts.

The campus decorating is a project of the Student Government Association that is coordinated by Taylor Guido, vice president of the SGA executive board and chairman of the activities committee.
