The Fr. Gilbert J. Burke O.S.B. Easter Ball for alumni, guests and friends of Saint Vincent College, Preparatory School and Seminary will be held on Saturday, April 14 at the Lexus Club at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
The formal event, which has revived the tradition of the spring ball that raised scholarship funds from the late 1940s and into the 1960s, is sponsored by the Saint Vincent Alumni Council in conjunction with the Alumni Office. Walter Nalducci, C’90, and Daniel W. Kunz, C’99, are co-chairs of the event.
Proceeds from the ball benefit the Alumni Council Endowed Scholarship Fund which was established in 2001 to provide scholarship support to full-time students with academic merit and financial need. The scholarship fund was established to heighten student interest in alumni activities in order to ensure that Saint Vincent remains an important part of the lives of students after graduation and to provide an example of philanthropy that current students may one day follow. More than $50,000 has been raised for student scholarships in the past decade.
The Easter Ball will feature an elegant buffet with carving stations, selections from a variety of cuisines as well as a cash bar. There will also be silent auction and Bearcat auction offering a wide variety of specialty gift items including sports memorabilia and special Saint Vincent items. Live music for dancing will be provided by the band, Dreamscape, a sophisticated high energy group. Dress for the Easter Ball is semi-formal with black tie optional for men. The cost to attend is $125 a person.
The dance is named in honor of Fr. Gilbert J. Burke, O.S.B., a former alumni director and now director of the Saint Vincent Archabbey Development Club. The Easter Ball committee includes Donald J.
