Dr. Richard Saccone, lecturer in political science at Saint Vincent College and Pennsylvania State Representative from the 39th District, was the primary sponsor of a bill that recently passed the Pennsylvania legislature declaring 2012 as the “Year of the Bible” throughout the state and calling for a renewed awareness of Biblical teaching in American society.

Dr. Saccone said that there is a need to “take a breath and reflect back” on the role of Scripture in American history. “It’s important that we have that connection,” he said.

Members of the Pennsylvania State House unanimously adopted the resolution by a vote of 193-0.
