The Rev. Paul R. Taylor, O.S.B., has been named executive vice president at Saint Vincent College, according to an announcement by Br. Norman W. Hipps, O.S.B., president, effective June 15.
In the new position, Fr. Paul will be the chief advancement officer for the College and will work with the president and the members of the board of directors to develop a dynamic philanthropic program by providing vision, leadership and strategic planning for support by alumni, parents, friends, corporations, businesses and foundations.
Serving since 2009 as executive director of the Saint Vincent Archabbey Apostolates and Endowments, he will also continue to coordinate the institutional advancement programs of the Archabbey and the Seminary including the Benedictine high school in Savannah, Georgia, Saint Vincent foundations in Taiwan and Brazil and the international Benedictine university of Sant’ Anselmo in Rome.
Fr. Paul previously served as vice president for institutional advancement, dean of admission and financial aid and acting dean of students.
A graduate of Saint Vincent College where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics with highest honor and Saint Vincent Seminary where he earned a master of divinity degree in theology with honor, Fr. Paul received a master of arts degree in mathematics from Duke University and a Ph.D. in higher educational administration from Boston College.
A current member of the Latrobe Area Hospital Charitable Foundation board of directors and the Straub Brewery, Inc. board of directors, Fr. Paul formerly served on the boards of directors of the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau, Benedictine Military School (Savannah, Georgia), and the Saint Vincent College Corporation Board of Incorporators. He also serves as a weekend assistant priest at Saint Louise de Marillac R.C. Parish in Upper Saint Clair.
Fr. Paul, 46, entered the Benedictine monastic community in 1987 and professed his solemn vows in 1991. He was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Rev. Anthony G. Bosco in 1992.
A 1983 graduate of Elk County Catholic High School, Fr. Paul is the son of Irene S. Taylor of Saint Marys (Elk County) and the late Robert Lawrence Taylor.
