Saint Vincent College Homecoming, Fall Family Weekend Oct. 3-7

Saint Vincent College Offices of Alumni Relations and Campus Life will welcome alumni, students and their families to campus for homecoming and fall family weekend Wednesday through Sunday, Oct. 3-7.

The five-day series of events will open on Wednesday, Oct. 3 and Thursday, Oct. 4 with the 28th annual Bearcat Open Golf Tournament at Laurel Valley Golf Club, Ligonier, sponsored by Private Wealth Advisors, Inc. Proceeds from the outing will benefit the Saint Vincent College athletics department. For more information, please call 724-805-2265.

Eleven graduates will be honored as alumni of distinction in recognition of their lifetime achievement and service to Saint Vincent at a reception and dinner at the Fred M. Rogers Center at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. The honorees include Augustus A. Boova; James P. Carreras, Jr.; Rev. Msgr. William G. Charnoki, PA, JCL; Amanda Cecconi; Lee R. Demosky; Very Rev. Earl J. Henry, O.S.B.; John M. Lally, C.P.A.; Atty. Daniel W. Piccuta II; John L. Tarka; Gabrielle K. Nastuck; and Shawn T. Beaman, M.D. Also, Monroe Crossing, classical American bluegrass, will be performing at the Robert S. Carey Student Center Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m.

Saturday’s activities include an alumni anniversary breakfast, a parade, community picnic, open swim, equestrian team demonstration, Bearcat football vs. Thiel College, halftime crowning of homecoming court, marching band performance, an alumni social, alumni memorial Mass, planetarium shows in the Angelo J. Taiani Planetarium, alumni class pictures, “Commedia” by James Ragan presented by Saint Vincent Players, flag football exhibition game, a pick-up Frisbee game, and a performance by Mike Super, magic and illusion. The Fall Fest Carnival will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on the softball field. Each of the four schools will have receptions at 10 a.m. A shuttle bus will be running all day with admission ambassadors giving tours of campus.

Sunday’s activities include parish Masses at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
