A Saint Vincent College billboard has been recognized in an international competition for marketing and communication professionals.
The MarCom Awards, administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, is an international competition that honors excellence and recognizes the creativity, hard work and generosity of marketing and communication professionals. Garnering more than 6,000 entries annually, it is believed to be the largest competition of its kind.
Suzanne Wilcox English, vice president for marketing and communications at Saint Vincent, expressed appreciation to Jim Wasylik of West Media and George Fetkovich of Apollo Design for their work in the design and placements of the board. Fetkovich is a 1980 graduate of Saint Vincent. “The billboard very simply promotes one of Saint Vincent’s important assets, our new Dupré Science Pavilion, where every SVC student takes at least one course,” she said. “We are proud of our strengths in the traditional arts and sciences as well as our emphasis on excellent teaching, which prepare students for success in a competitive global environment.”
The billboard, which won a Gold Award, is illustrated with a photographic mural of the new $39 million state-of-the-art Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion. The photo was taken after sundown by Pittsburgh architectural photographer James Schafer. It is headlined, “Ready for Your Future.”
Boards are located on I-76 West (Pennsylvania turnpike near Donegal), on U.S. Route 30 East and on the Homestead High Level Bridge approaching the Waterfront Mall.
The MarCom Awards is a creative competition for any individual or company involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs. The MarCom competition has grown to the largest of its kind in the world with about 6,000 entries per year.
