Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center's Center for Global Competitiveness will host its 5th Annual Global Growth Conference on Thursday and Friday, March 21 and 22.

During this one-of-a-kind learning opportunity, global growth practitioners from some of the world’s leading multi-nationals including Alcoa, Baker Hughes, Bayer, Kennametal, PPG, U.S. Steel and Westinghouse will share their best practices, personal experiences and strategies for success.

Specialized sessions on export control reform, AES (automated export system) and ITAR (international traffic in arms regulations) will be presented by representatives from Cohen & Grigsby, P.C. Other presenters include Compliance Assurance LLC on export controls (specialty metals, materials and technology and software), Fifth Third Bank on eliminating risk and error and a keynote lunch presentation by special agent Robert D. Zalno of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on counter intelligence in today’s marketplace.

This conference will inform and educate participants’ international trade staff on new market opportunities, controls and regulations compliance, implementation procedures, market development strategies and avoiding legal complications, potential penalties and possible fines. Understanding obligations as a U.S. exporter is critical to success in overseas markets. Businesses should not overlook widespread and profitable international business opportunities because their company lacks properly trained personnel.

This two-day conference, co-sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation, Westmoreland County Airport Authority, Fay-Penn Economic Development Council, Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission and the U.S. Commercial Service will take place in the Saint Vincent College Fred M. Rogers Center. Conference time is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 21 and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for March 22. Breakfast and lunch are included. The seminar qualifies for CPE credits.

Cost is $500 for the full two-day conference, $300 for one day. Early registration is required. Seating is limited so early registration is advised by contacting the SBDC at 724-537-4572 or http://tinyurl.com/svcglobal.
