Ben Schachter, associate professor of fine arts at Saint Vincent College, gave a presentation a the Conney Conference on Jewish Art at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, on April 10.

His paper, Artistic Interpretation of Jewish Law: The Eruv and Diaspora, addressed the basic construction of an eruv and how it builds communal and familial bonds.

Schachter’s works on paper that draw on maps of eruvim from all over the world illustrated the complexity of this ancient tradition.
