SBDC Plans Technology Boot Camp, 'Effective Marketing in This Technology Age,' This Summer

Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center will host a five-part technology boot camp that will set the path to global visibility and teach participants to effectively utilize the Internet in marketing their business.

On Thursday, July 11, Planning and Promoting Your Website will teach participants how to set up a winning business website or to improve an existing one. Topics include website development stages, costs, templates and finding a web hosting service. Also covered are design, domain names, affiliate programs, databases, banners and more.

Search Engine Optimization-Rank High in a Global Search on Thursday, July 18 will show participants how to increase their website visibility through search engine results. Attendees will learn online marketing strategies that will increase traffic to their website, factors that affect search engine rankings and the impact of search technology on a business’s bottom line.

Google Analytics Basics will be held on Thursday, July 25. This seminar will teach participants how Google Analytics can help track website visitor information such as how many visits, content they’re looking for, technical device they used to view the site, keywords used to find the site, where demographically they’re located and more. This program is designed to provide the knowledge of how Google Analytics works and how participants can use it to better serve their business.

With Promote Your Business through Social Networking on Thursday, August 1, participants will learn to capitalize on this new surge of marketing techniques and to effectively utilize online programs that will give a business visibility, including Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In.

Computer Security - Protect Your Information will be held on Thursday, August 8. This seminar will discuss the latest information on firewalls, anti-spyware, anti-spam and other programs participants can use to keep their information safe.

Each program will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The fee to attend individual programs is $40 or $35 each for two or more – or save and attend all five for the discounted cost of $150. Coffee/tea set up and light refreshments are included, as well as an optional one-year subscription (12 issues) to Inc. magazine, valued at $10.

Joe Polk, Technology Specialist Consultant, will present all five programs. Polk was previously senior technical specialist with PennTAP, web technology specialist with Marconi PLC and web developer with Management Science Associates in Pittsburgh.

Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center is part of a statewide system of university-based economic development organizations, whose mission is to provide high quality education and consulting to entrepreneurs, to help them start and grow their businesses in the competitive global economy.
