A large box truck from Consumers Produce Company, Inc. of Pittsburgh delivered more than a ton of bananas to the Fred M. Rogers Center at Saint Vincent College today for consumption at various events during the Great American Banana Split Festival in Latrobe and SVC Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Great American Banana Split Celebration is sponsored by Dole Fresh Fruit, Saint Vincent College and the City of Latrobe in conjunction with the Latrobe Downtown Revitalization Project and the Latrobe Art Center. Consumers delivery driver Michael Riley unloaded the slightly green bananas that will ripen perfectly for banana splits and other treats.
