Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve at SVC Announces Fall Events

Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve at Saint Vincent College will be hosting a series of events this fall and winter including a Water Colors in Nature Workshop, A Fall Fest, and a Santa’s Barnyard utilizing the trails, Learning Center Barn and Barn Owl Gift Corner to explore nature.

A Water Colors in Nature Workshop for ages 15 and up will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. Artists from Art and Conservation Columbia will lead the workshop on reserve grounds. Registration is required by Friday, Oct. 18. The cost is $25 per person and includes all supplies.

A Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will have an opportunity to enjoy the trails and visit the vendors inside the barn. This event will feature a scarecrow trail, children’s activities, crafts, unique finds and other activities. It is free to all visitors and all ages are welcome. Interested vendors and businesses or individuals interested in contributing to the scarecrow trail should contact the reserve for registration information.

In conjunction with the Saint Vincent College Early Childhood Education Club, WPNR will be hosting Santa’s Barnyard at the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve Barn on Saturday, Dec. 7. Children ages birth to 9 will have an opportunity to enjoy a story and visit with Santa, make a holiday craft, play Christmas games, and meet barnyard animals at either 10 a.m. or 12 noon. Registration by Saturday, Nov. 23 is required for this program and the cost is $6 per child accompanied by an adult. Barnyard animals will be subject to weather conditions.
