Future Tenant: a Space for Art and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership screened David Safin’s thesis film, The Birthday Present, at an outdoor public event, Downtown Film Night, on Oct. 12 at 917 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh.

Safin is director of multimedia services in the department of marketing and communications at Saint Vincent College and a lecturer in communication in the school of social sciences, communication and education.

The event also screened four other films and was billed as a celebration of the Steel City’s rising filmmakers on the silver screen. Future Tenant provides a laboratory setting for artists, arts managers and audiences to explore the limits of the creative expression, presentation and interpretation of various art forms.
