An opera, “The Beautiful Bridegroom,” will be presented by students of the Saint Vincent College Music Department at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, November 12 in the Performing Arts Center of the Robert S. Carey Student Center. Admission is $10. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling 724 805-2229. Group rates are available.

The Beautiful Bridegroom, a one-act comic opera for six women, has been hailed as "a little masterpiece" by composer Dan Shore. Based on an 18th-century play by Ludvig Holberg, this Mozart pastiche tells the story of a widow who has been searching for a young husband – not for her two marriageable daughters, but for herself.

The cast for The Beautiful Bridegroom includes Alyssa Hennessy, a senior communication major from Latrobe, as Terentia; Danielle Byrne, a sophomore music performance major from Williamsport, as Pernille; Averie Shaughnessy, a senior English major from Monroeville, as Laurentia; Rona Gehring, a freshman music major from Robinson, as Leonora; Signe Lindberg, a senior arts administration major from Keene, New Hampshire, and Casey Ciocco, a junior psychology major from Latrobe, as Madam Kirsten; and Anna Steighner, a senior political science major from Kittanning, as Von Frauenliebe.

Colleen Reilly is the stage director and Thomas Octave is the musical director of this third opera to be performed on the Saint Vincent stage.
