The Saint Vincent College Concert Series will present eight classical performances during its 40th anniversary season.

“This year marks the 40th year of Saint Vincent’s extraordinary classical music series,” noted Br. Nathan Cochran, O.S.B., artistic director. “It was founded and guided through the hard work and dedication of Fr. Joseph Bronder, O.S.B. For 39 seasons some of the best international classical musicians have performed on the Saint Vincent stage, enriching the lives of our local community through the treasured music of western civilization.”

“This is the only classical recital series of this scope and magnitude presented by any college or university in western Pennsylvania, and it is the only recital series of this caliber in Westmoreland County,” Br. Nathan continued. “This year we will hear amazing opera stars; see spectacular principal dancers from Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre; and listen to Pittsburgh treasure Andrés Cárdenes. We will also be astonished by a child piano prodigy, as well as entertained by other world-class musicians.”

The schedule for the 2011-2012 Series includes Sari Gruber, soprano, Saturday, September 10; Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre performing various pas de deux, Friday, October 7; Israeli Yoed Nir, cello and electric cello, Saturday, November 5; Andrés Cárdenes, violin, Saturday, December 3; prodigy George Li, piano, Saturday, January 21, 2012; Leonardo Capalbo, tenor, Saturday, February 18, 2012; Duo Orfeo, guitar duo, Saturday, March 17, 2012; and Lark Quartet, string quartet, Saturday, April 14.

All of the performances begin at 8 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Student Center Performing Arts Center on the campus of Saint Vincent College. Continuing this season is a free shuttle to and from the concert to the parking areas.

Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door on the evening of the performance. Single tickets are $25, season tickets (premium seating at each of the eight concerts) are $150, and flex passes (eight admissions) are $160. Student discounts ($15) and group rates are available.

Saint Vincent Concert Series also offers a dinner-concert package, A Classic Evening at Saint Vincent, which combines a served dinner in the Metten Dining Room and admission to the concert for $45 per person ($25 for season ticket or flex pass holders).
