Tenor Leonardo Capalbo will be the sixth presentation in the Saint Vincent College Concert Series stage at 8 p.m. Saturday, February 18 in the Robert S. Carey Student Center Performing Arts Center.

Mr. Capalbo’s repertoire encompasses modern and traditional pieces but it is primarily focused on Italian and French operatic literature. This will be his second appearance in the Saint Vincent College Concert Series. His first performance was April 17, 2010, and is one about which people still rave, commented Br. Nathan Cochran, O.S.B., artistic director of the series.

Young Italian-American tenor Mr. Capalbo is garnering international acclaim for his performances throughout the United States and Europe. Lauded for his “liquid and squillante tenor” and “commanding stage presence,” Mr. Capalbo has worked closely with legendary opera star Marilyn Horne and participated in a gala recital for the Marilyn Horne Foundation at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Mr. Capalbo is renowned for his performances of the roles of the Duke in Rigoletto; Rudolfo in La bohème; Albredo in La Traviata; Romeo in Romeo et Juliette; Nemorino in L’elisi d’amore; and the title role of Leonard Bernstein’s Candide. He has performed in some of the most important opera houses in Europe and the United States, most notably: Opera Royal de la Wallonie; Oper Köln; Opera de Bordeaux; Greek National Opera; SemperOper in Dresden; Opera Holland Park; Stuttgart Opera; Staatsoper Berlin; Opera North; Florida Grad Opera; New Orleans Opera; Lyric Opera of Chicago; and New York City Opera.

Admission is $25 and tickets can be ordered online at http://concertseries.stvincent.edu/ or by calling 724 805-2565. They will also be available at the door.

Single tickets, flex passes, group rates and student discounts are also available.

A dinner/concert package, A Classic Evening at Saint Vincent, is offered for $50 with advance reservations.

This performance is supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Upcoming concerts in the series include Duo Orfeo, guitar duo, Saturday, March 17; and Lark Quartet, string quartet, Saturday, April 14.

Further details are available by contacting the Concert Series Box Office, 724 805-2565 or http://concertseries.stvincent.edu/.
