Ben Schachter, associate professor of fine arts in the Saint Vincent College School of Humanities and Fine Arts, will exhibit two of his art works from Feb. 15 to April 13 at the Holocaust Memorial Center’s Zekelman Family Campus in Farmington Hills, Detroit, Michigan.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Cultural Heritage Artists’ Project, Jewish Art Salon and JWalks: Retracing Jewish Heritage.

“The artists in this exhibition are researchers and travelers. As interpreters of history, they photograph, document, represent and weave together the stories of the past and the present,” Mr. Schachter commented. “Working with the stories of synagogues from throughout the Americas, Europe, India and Israel, their work evokes the bittersweet traces of melded histories.”

“The two paintings, Return to Pittsburgh 1 and 2, are similar to my other stitched paintings but these show modern and historical Pittsburgh buildings placed side by side,” he added. “The images represent 100 years of Pittsburgh history in a very minimal way.”
