Dr. Robert J. DePasquale, professor of accounting in the Saint Vincent College Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government, was honored with the presentation of the Boniface Wimmer Award at the Saint Vincent College Spring Honors Convocation on April 25 in Saint Vincent Basilica.

Under his leadership the Department of Business Administration received its first national accreditation by the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs in 1995.

He was the first winner of the Thoburn Excellence in Teaching Award in 1997 and was honored with the Pennsylvania Accounting Educator of the Year Award in 2002.

He is a member of 22 civic, service and social organizations including Knights of Columbus, Sierra Club, Sons of Italy Foundation and the Three Stooges Fan Club. Dr. DePasquale is a long-time volunteer and supporter of Catholic schools, including Greensburg Central Catholic High School where in 2002 he was the first alumnus to be named Distinguished Centurion.

He is a member of Saint Paul R.C. Church in Greensburg where he serves as a Eucharistic Minister.

“An outstanding teacher at every level, Dr. DePasquale’s heart is with the students of Saint Vincent College,” Dr. Smetanka said in making the presentation. “To share just a couple of recent comments from his students, one wrote Dr. DePasquale helped me all semester to push myself to understand accounting better than I thought I could. Another student wrote that he makes learning difficult material fun. Saint Vincent College is truly blessed to have faculty like Dr. DePasquale who devote themselves to the love of teaching others, the care of our students, and their civic and community duties.”
