In conjunction with the national and local observations of breast cancer awareness month, Saint Vincent College’s Parkhurst Dining Service will be presenting breast cancer awareness day on Tuesday, Oct. 23 with a special pink luncheon menu.
Pink tablecloths and decorations will serve as a backdrop for a selection of pink-colored foods including pink cotton candy, pink lemonade smoothies, pink pasta roseo, cranberry chicken, Harvard beets, rosemary red potatoes and pink rice pilaf.
“We are proud to join with many other businesses and organizations which are creatively drawing attention to the importance of being aware of the causes, detection and treatment of this disease,” commented Reggie Esmi, senior general manager for Parkhurst at Saint Vincent. “While most of our students and staff are aware of breast cancer, some may forget to take the steps necessary to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and to encourage others to do so. Hopefully, this event will serve as an enjoyable reminder.”
“The message we want to communicate is very serious but we hope to do it in an interesting, fun and appropriately colorful way,” he concluded.
