Students Complete Fall Break Service Trip to Appalachia

Ten Saint Vincent College students participated in a Campus Ministry-sponsored fall break service trip to Appalachia October 13 to 16.

The students worked with Saint Thomas Parish in Gassaway, West Virginia, where they painted and cleaned a space in preparation to relocate the food pantry. They also participated in refreshing the church’s thrift store.

The volunteers include: Marla Crawford, a junior biology major from Valencia; William Fitzgerald, a senior accounting major from Gibsonia; Ya (Grace) Gao, an English as a Second Language student from Haidian District, Beijing; Joshua Gongaware, a junior economics major from Irwin; Justin Keppel, a sophomore mathematical engineering major from Simsbury, Connecticut; Aaron Kushner, a senior political science major from New Castle; Leanne Lovasz, a sophomore biology major from Springdale; Ashleigh Pollick, a sophomore management major from Vandergrift; Catherine Schratz, a senior theology major from Butler; and Jieni (Jenny) Zhou, an English as a Second Language student from Cixi, Zhegang Province. Also, Dr. Daniele Arcara, chair and associate professor of mathematics, and Assistant Director of Campus Ministry; Fr. Jean-Luc Zadroga, O.S.B., campus minister; and Rev. Matheus Ro, S.V.D., and Rev. Ky Ngoc Dinh, S.V.D., pastors of St. Thomas Parish in Gassaway, are pictured.
