Four Saint Vincent College students were named officers of the Student Government Association Executive Board for service during 2013.
The newly-elected officers are Justin A. Teets of Vanderbilt, president; Tanner C. Beal of Hagerstown, Maryland, vice president; Robert (Bo) Tokarski II of Pittsburgh (Beechview), treasurer; and Loretta Bobetich of Duncansville, secretary.
Teets, a 2011 graduate of Connellsville Area High School, is the son of Bill and Theresa Teets. A sophomore politics major with minors in economics and criminology, law and society, he has served as president of his freshman and sophomore classes and was named SGA member of the year in 2011-2012. He is a member and president of the College Republicans, serves as an admission ambassador, student photographer for the office of public relations and is the student-alumni relations committee chair.
“The very first time I came onto campus I was aware of SGA’s involvement and impact,” Teets
commented. “I love the positive impact SGA can potentially have on the student body and administration. I look to further those relationships while also providing a comfortable environment for students to voice their opinions. I look forward to working with administrators and fellow students to make SGA as well known and respected as possible.”
Beal, a 2010 graduate of Saint Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown, Maryland, is the son of Karen Divelbiss of Hagerstown and Christopher Beal of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. A junior criminology, law and society major with a minor in Spanish, he has previously served as vice president of the Student Government Association Executive Board, a member and captain of the varsity swimming team, a swimming representative member of the student athlete advisory council, activities programming board team leader, member of the orientation committee, member and vice president of the criminology club, member and treasurer of the active minds club, member and secretary of the pre-law society, and a four-semester member of the dean’s list and the Presidents’ Athletic Conference honor roll.
“I chose to run for re-election as the vice president to continue the work I have done in the past year, improving on the events I have run to better SGA as a whole and therefore campus and student life,” Beal commented. “However, I wish to strengthen the connection between SGA and the student body, along with SGA and the administration to help improve campus life and the goals of everyone involved.”
Robert Tokarski II
Tokarski, a 2011 graduate of Bishop Canevin High School, Pittsburgh, is the son of Robert and Rosemary Tokarski of Pittsburgh (Beechview). A sophomore biochemistry major, he is a member of the varsity soccer team, a Boyer School Collaborative Learning Program Facilitator, a residence hall prefect and a participant in the Honors Program. He is a member of St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Parish in Beechview.
“I wanted to become someone who could definitely help make a difference in the Saint Vincent community with my leadership skills. My goal is to keep the budget balanced and connect with each SGA-sponsored club personally and professionally,” Tokarski commented.
Bobetich, a 2010 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School, Altoona, is the daughter of Vincent and Carol Ann Bobetich of Duncansville. A junior graphic design and communication double major, she is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society, Saint Vincent College Dean’s List, Orientation Committee Event Coordinator, Activities Programming Board, Women in Business Club, Culture Pub Communication Club, intramural volleyball team, and serves as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. She is a member of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Altoona.
“I chose to run for the secretary position on the SGA executive board because I wanted to become more involved in the Saint Vincent community and be a voice for the students,” Bobetich commented. “I plan to enhance on-campus communication through a strong use of advertising and public relations. I would like our campus to be more informed and involved in what goes on among students, faculty and staff.”
