The Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media at Saint Vincent College has named two new Early Career Fellows for 2012-2013, according to an announcement by Rita Catalano, executive director of the Rogers Center.

The Fellows, who will work on both individual and collaborative projects for the Center, are Belinda Arredondo of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Gavin Pouliot of Somersworth, New Hampshire.

“This program is a unique professional development opportunity for early career producers, designers, writers, artists, educators, researchers, and other innovators interested in mining the potential of high-quality digital media to support early learning and development,” Ms. Catalano said. “Through the Early Career Fellows program, the Fred Rogers Center aims to help develop new generations of creators committed to carrying forward the legacy of Fred Rogers. We are so pleased to welcome Belinda and Gavin to the growing network of Fred Rogers Center Early Career Fellows.”

Arredondo earned a bachelor of arts degree in honors English literature at California State University Northridge, where she concentrated her studies in comparative literature for English and Spanish languages. She received a master of arts in publishing and writing from Emerson College, Boston, where she studied design and interactive media for children’s books. She works as an art department assistant for Candlewick Press in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Pouliot earned a bachelor of arts degree from Brigham Young University in art history and curatorial studies where he focused his studies on 20th century art and architecture. He holds a master of education degree in educational technology from Arizona State University. He is a user experience designer for Measured Progress in Dover, New Hampshire, and a mobile app project manager at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire.

The Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media (www.fredrogerscenter.org) was established at Saint Vincent College in 2003. The Center houses the official archive of Fred Rogers’ work including scripts, videos, and artifacts from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. In addition to the Early Career Fellows program the Center’s national programs and initiatives include the Fred Rogers Center Early Learning Environment™ (www.yourele.org), a web-based resource in early literacy and media literacy for teachers, family child care providers, and families; and the Fred Forward Conference Series.
