Saint Vincent College hosted a presentation by Brittany Aubin, left, of the Global Poverty Project on Feb. 8 in the Performing Arts Center of the Robert S. Carey Student Center. More than one hundred students, faculty and staff attended the multimedia presentation entitled 1.4 Billion Reasons, that focused on the plight of the 1.4 billion people in the world living in extreme poverty and the opportunities that everyone has to reduce that number to zero. The presentation was part of the project’s spring tour of the United States during which they are engaging and inspiring audiences to understand and get involved in the movement to end extreme poverty. Dr. Elaine M. Bennett, right, assistant professor of anthropology, introduced the program.

The event was co-sponsored by the Saint Vincent College School of Humanities and Fine Arts and its History and Theology Departments, Saint Vincent College School of Social Sciences, Communication and Education and its Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Alpha Chi Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Anthropology Club, Office of Serving Learning and Community Outreach, Student Government Association, Multicultural Student Coalition and the Dean of Studies.
