Saint Vincent College students will host a special event, Sports Friendship Day, Sunday, March 17, for persons with special needs, intellectual disabilities or physical limitations.
Sports Friendship Day, sponsored by Saint Vincent College Campus Ministry, is designed for children as young as seven years of age to adults who are disabled. The special day features light sports activities, arts and crafts, entertainment, a talent show, dinner and Mass. Saint Vincent College students assist each participant throughout the afternoon.
This is the 29th consecutive year that Saint Vincent has hosted this special event that is made possible by the generosity of the entire Saint Vincent College community, especially the Saint Vincent College Student Government Association. Parents and guardians of participants are welcome to attend and enjoy the campus.
Lauren Donahue, assistant director of campus ministry for social outreach, said "We at Saint Vincent College are extremely proud to celebrate a very important event that has become a yearly tradition here, the annual Sports Friendship Day. This year's event will bring together student volunteers and members from the community for an exciting day filled with fun activities. This event never fails to showcase Saint Vincent College's hospitality and willingness to be involved in our community, and we are anxiously looking forward to another successful event this year."
The deadline for registration is March 4. The event is limited to the first 120 reservations. For information, contact Lauren Donahue in Saint Vincent College Campus Ministry, 724 805-2098.
